UTEP men, women at Notre Dame cross country Published by Bill Knight/El Paso Times on September 30, 2015 UTEP will get its first real cross country test of the season Friday at the Notre Dame Invitational and Miner coach Paul Ereng believes the team is ready for that exam. "The men's team is really running well, really working hard in workouts," Ereng said. "I run basically the same workouts each year, run them where our runners are ready for an 8K or a 10K race. They get to the point where they can hold those times in a real race. The workouts of the group this year are very consistent with those of last year and, really, are better than they have been since our 2007 team ... the team that won the conference and went to nationals." Ereng coaches his team to run as a group, work as a group — five young men running as one. This group will take a strong quintet to South Bend — senior Anthony Rotich, junior Cosmas Boit, freshman Jonah Koech, junior Daniel Cheruiyot and freshman Antony Kosgei. Rotich, a four-time national champion in track and field and a three-time All-American in cross country, said, "This is my last season and my goal for this team is for everybody to make All-American and for us to go to nationals. And we are capable of doing that. We've trained together as a group, trained all summer together. We are together, first to last. In the four years I've been here, this is the best team I could have asked." Read the full article at: www.elpasotimes.com
